AMS guide, Dan Corn called in this evening from Kahiltna Pass. The high winds from 2 days ago delayed them into taking a rest day. They hunkered down in camp, rather than move in high winds - good call! They are planning on moving to 11K tomorrow. The weather was stormy at elevations below 11,000' these last few days. Dan thought that the folks at 11,000' and above may have had a nice day today.
The photo above was taken from Kahiltna Dome. The camp (3 specks in the foreground) is the Kahiltna Pass camp. In the center background is 11K camp, it is tucked behind a low ridge, which makes the camp somewhat sheltered. Gary, Kurt, Tom, Dan, Drew, Finn, Bill and Matt only have about 800 feet to climb in 3/4 of a mile to get to the 11,000' camp. They should be able to have a leisurely morning and a fairly mellow trip into that camp. The weather looks pretty decent in this photo, but if you look closely you can see a white plume off of the ridge above Windy Corner this means winds are blowing.
