Matanuska Bound

Josh Hoeschen & Matt Montavon and their 6-day Mountaineering Course team are headed for the Matanuska Glacier.  They will get some great Ice time! They had great courses here in town with fixed line ascension, cooking classes and lots more.
Ready to jump in the van!  Otis, Jason, Hazel, Matt, Josh, David, Tyler, looking rather serious between laughs.
Today they are "moving camp" and packed accordingly, with each person's pack loaded with their personal gear and some group gear rather than in duffels as we do for flights.
Jason giggles while trying to heft his pack...

Matt & crew discuss gear while snacking on apples.

Matt shows the right way to lift a heavy pack - it helps to have a bigger smile!

Otis packing the van, almost done!
We've heard that the weather at the "Mat" Glacier is good!  Hopefully some of that good stuff is headed our way.  Forest, Noah and the group on the Eldridge Glacier said "All is well" in their message to us today.  It was still snowing up there but they said they detect a slight change in the weather. We'll keep you posted as soon as we hear updates from them or if the weather conditions look favorable for flying. The rain has let up here in Talkeetna, the cloud cover remains solid as of 3pm. Colby talked to the air taxi a bit ago, we are all on standby in case the weather improves.
Cheers,
