Combat Wounded Veterans Challenge

We are proud to be hosting the Combat Wounded Veterans this summer. This is their fourth visit with us. We have two groups this group is going to the Pika Glacier for an 8-day Mountaineering Course and the other will be rafting down the Susitna River; some in pack rafts!

This evening is our annual Celebration of Life picnic. If you're in town, stop by the AMS shop on F street and visit with some of our finest defenders of freedom.

Here's some pictures of the mass gear check, trip packing, lunch packing and lunch eating. The weather is gorgeous; sunny and warm and a nice break from the cool and rainy weather we've been having.

Loading the BBQ grill to take over F Street.
Rafting guide (and AMS intern) Sean packing meat. Oh yeah, they're gonna eat good on that trip.

Lots of Gear!

Guide Greg Runyan fits boots.

Some of the mountaineering students enjoying chow time.
Students pack their own lunches for the duration of their course.
