Spring is Beautiful in Talkeetna

Thought you might like to see how much snow is left at the end of March.  We have about three feet of snow left...break-up won't be fun but in the meantime, skiing is great and we are looking forward to the crust skiing through the woods and on lakes and rivers.

Our final Wilderness First Responder re-certification class is going on this weekend and some custom climbs begin next week. The season has begun!

Denali Expedition Availiblity Update

We hope everyone had another great weekend!

Here is the most current availability of positions on AMS' 2012 Denali West Buttress Expeditions:

May 26 - June 15: 1 space available
May 28 - June 17:  FULL
June 4 - June 24: 1 space available
June 5 - June 25:  2 spaces available 
June 11 - July 1:  FULL

June 25 - July 15:  1 space available
June 27 - July 17:  4 spaces available


To be considered for an AMS climb and one of these positions, you must complete and submit an AMS application and Expedition Questionnaire, along with deposit information to AMS.  We then review your application and contact you with any questions - if all looks good, we process your deposit and the space is yours.

First Course of the Season Returns!


We've been busy here with Wilderness First Responders classes but our first Alaska course recently wrapped up. We instructed a Denali prep course on the Matanuska Glacier. Guides Melis Coady and Dustin Eroh led four students on a custom mountaineering course to help prepare them for a Denali climb later in the season. The temperatures were cold...below minus 30...good experience for their expedition.
