The Custom Ski Expedition with Adam Fabrikant, Billy Haas and Chris just returned to green and warm Talkeetna. All are happy and well. They are off to downtown Talkeetna to find some food and libation and then eventually showers.
After standing on the summit at 3:45 pm yesterday afternoon, it took them 49 minutes to ski from the summit of Denali to the 17K camp.
After breaking down their camp, it took 45 minutes to ski from 17K camp to 14K camp. They were warmly welcomed by the Tate Hughes 6/8 Expedition and had tortellini for dinner.
After dinner, they skied to the 11K camp, took a rest and reclaimed their sleds and other gear. From there it was about a 2-hour ski back to the Kahiltna Basecamp at 7,200 feet. The last bit of the route into base camp is called "Heartbreak Hill" because it is a 500-foot uphill trek. They arrived there at 1:00 AM this morning.
Both Adam and Billy reported that it was the best snow conditions they had seen with powder skiing up high.
